Waterbabies Programs

Recommended age 6 months - 2.5 years

Max 8 pupils per class / Duration 30 minutes

The Waterbabies program is the ideal opportunity for your baby to introduced and become comfortable in water. Baby swimming lessons focus on fun water-based activities and catchy rhymes which are a lovely activity for parents and babies to share, while learning essential water survival skills. Lessons are provided in a nurturing, patient and fun environment, through small group class sizes (maximum of 8) and an engaging program.

Our water familiarisation programs - sometimes referred to as “baby swimming lessons” - cover skills such as submerging, floating and moving through water. Our Waterbabies 1 class caters for younger babies aged 6 months to 18 months, while our Waterbabies 2 toddler swimming lessons cater for ages 19 months to 30 months. If your child is older than 2.5 years, be sure to have a look at our Kindergarten swimming lesson program.

There are many advantages to taking part in baby swimming lessons from an early age as a foundation to learning to swim; some of the mental and physical benefits of swimming and water familiarisation lessons for babies are:

  • Familiarity and confidence with water;
  • The development of gross motor skills;
  • Instilling a love of exercise into your child;
  • A way to bond with your baby or toddler;
  • A way for parents and babies to socialise and make friends!

Being a part of our Swim and Play programs is an excellent start to teaching babies the skills required to become strong, safe and confident in or around water. However, it is still necessary for parents to be vigilant with their children when they are in or around water, including in backyard swimming pools, at the beach or during other water-based activities.
